The Auckland and North Island area of New Zealand features an enormous number of superb vineyards, wineries, breweries and hopfields, many of which are located within easy reach of Auckland city centre. Many of the vineyards and wineries in Auckland are extremely historic, being established more than 100 years ago, and export their wine from Auckland to many countries and areas of the world, including Europe. Vineyards, wineries and breweries in the Auckland area are generally situated in scenic spots, with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and mountains. Auckland's vineyards vary greatly in size and are particularly concentrated in Matakana to the North of Auckland, the Waiheke Island in the Hauraki Gulf, and many areas of West Auckland, including Kumeu and the stunning Henderson Valley.

Guided tours provide an excellent way to visit the most popular wineries and vineyards in Auckland and other nearby areas of New Zealand's North Island.
